Method 1: System restore point in XP

System restore point is just like an undo command of Microsoft word, which returns your system to its previous driver version. The System restore process won’t affect any of your Microsoft word documents, emails, browsing history or drawings.

  1. In Windows XP to create system restore point you need to navigate to “System Restore” through start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore

  1. Now, after selecting System Restore, create the restore point then hit next

  1. Finally, type a name to identify restore point and create.
  2. Now to return to this restore point from same system restore wizard, you should select “restore my computer to an earlier time”.
  3. Then you need to select the date you created and the restore point screen.

Method 2: System Restore Point in windows vista and windows 7

  1. First, click on start button
  2. Then  go to control panel
  3. Click system maintenance and system in classic view in windows vista.
  4. And in windows 7, click system and security, and then System.
  5. On the left side of control panel in windows 7, you will find system protection.

  1. Now, click it to create the restore point. And type a name to identify the restore point, then hit create.
  2. Now to return to this restore point from same system restore wizard, you should select “restore my computer to an earlier time”.

Method 3: System Restore Point in windows 10

  1. Click on the start menu button and type “create restore point” in the search box and hit Enter.
  2. It will now open the legacy (System protection) setting to configure the restore feature.
  3. Now go to the system restore button, then hit on the next.

  1. There you can see the available restore point with date and description where you should check and specify if it’s created by system of manually.
  2. So, as you did select the restore point, click “scan for affected files” to check the applications installed since previous restore point, which might be deleted while the ongoing process. Hit cancel to go back wizard.

  1. And then finally, click next  to start the restore process.

  1. And once this process is completed, you will be back to that same point in time where your system was working perfectly.

Method 4: Roll back driver option

  1. In windows XP and windows 7 click start > control panel > performance and maintenance > system.
  2. Now click on the hardware tab and click device manager.
  3. There you should double click on display adapters and also double click on your graphic option, then click the roll back driver.

Method 5: Back up device drivers

  1. Click start button and type cmd by right clicking to choose run as admin.
  2. Then type the following command line “dism/online/export-driver/destination:c:\drivers-backup” in the command prompt window.

  1. Now it starts to collect the drivers from your system and stores them in your destination location that you’ve provided above.

Method 6: Restore and install device drivers manually

  1. Go to start button and right click on the computer
  2. There you should click on device manager
  3. Now select a device with a yellow question mark icon in it. And right click on it, then choose “update driver software” from the option.

  1. There in the popped up window you can see two options given, where you should click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.

  1. And then click on browse my computer to find the location of your saved driver files. Also include subfolders there.

  1. Wait for a few seconds and you’ll see the message that says, “Windows has successfully updated your driver software”.
