Some weeks ago I installed the windows 8 OS on my laptop and could not get Microsoft word 2013 on it, so I had to install my previous version 2010 which was a 32 bit version and I use a 64 bit OS, some few days after I finally got the 64 bit version of Microsoft word 2013 and tried installing it only to get an error that I already have a 32 bit version of Microsoft word and to uninstall it 1st before going ahead with a new installation of version 2013, I tried uninstalling it and did something wrong and ended up removing the 2010 version and still wasn’t able to install version 2013(64 bit). And you know as a blogger I really needed to write articles and the WordPress post editor isn’t cool like Microsoft word so I had to device other means of writing an article, of course I could always use the Microsoft windows live writer but I really do prefer the Microsoft word, so I had to look for other means on using the Microsoft word online, it was mere chance that I came to find that I could actually use MS word online with all the same tools as the offline version. I did it with SkyDrive, Microsoft’s own cloud storage utility.
How to Use Microsoft Word Online
Here’s the guide on how to use the Microsoft web app. All you have to do is go over to the official SkyDrive website on https://skydrive.live.com/ login and click on create at the top left corner on the page, next thing you should do is to select the web app you want to use, it includes Word document, Excel workbook, PowerPoint presentation, One note notebook and Excel Survey. You should select Word document if you want to use the Microsoft word and type a name of the document you want to write about and click create. That’s all, on the next page it loads a blank screen for you to start writing your article.
Benefits of Using the Web App of MS Word
- Mobility: Its mobile and you can access all your documents basically from anywhere on the globe with a computer and internet connection.
- Security: Documents written on the web app are much safer on the SkyDrive servers than your computer HDD.
The only con about this web app is that it requires an internet connection and that isn’t too much a big deal since basically every computer these days has an internet connection. Its an amazing feature Microsoft introduced and I’m so greatful for it cause now I can also sync my documents between my phone, laptop and any other device I want to sync to. I use the Microsoft web app for creating docs. It helps me to work from any computer, even while travelling. I also use Google Drive, but I like the interface of the Microsoft web app more than Google drive (may be because I am using Microsoft Office for many years).

I know that Outlook has now taken over Hotmail, but I wonder what the interface looks like now on mobile devices – especially windows phones. The interface looks a bit cluttered at the moment.
